This calculator is an estimate tool to help you plan. Gold and silver rates are entered by you and change daily, and personal situations differ — for a ruling on your own circumstances, please consult a qualified scholar.
Zakat is calculated at 2.5% of your net zakatable wealth — but only if that wealth reaches the nisab, the minimum threshold. The nisab is set by the value of 87.48 grams of gold (7.5 tola) or 612.36 grams of silver (52.5 tola). This calculator works out both values from the prices you enter and uses the lower of the two, which is the careful approach followed by many scholars.
Zakatable assets include cash in hand and in bank accounts, gold and silver you own (jewellery included, as most scholars count it), the current value of business and trade goods, and money owed to you that you realistically expect to recover. Your home, car, furniture and other personal-use items are not counted. Debts and payments that are due within the year are then deducted, and zakat is 2.5% of what remains — if what remains is at or above the nisab.
Everything runs in your browser: no figures are uploaded, stored or shared. Because rates move daily and individual circumstances vary — for example, how a debt or a piece of jewellery is treated — treat the result as a careful estimate for planning, and consult a qualified scholar for a ruling on your personal situation.

Frequently asked questions
What is the nisab for zakat?
The nisab is the minimum wealth at which zakat becomes due. It equals the value of 87.48 grams of gold (7.5 tola) or 612.36 grams of silver (52.5 tola). This calculator uses the lower of the two values, based on the prices you enter.
How much zakat do I pay — why 2.5%?
Zakat on money, gold, silver and trade goods is one-fortieth of your net zakatable wealth, which is 2.5%. If your net wealth is below the nisab, no zakat is due.
What assets count towards zakat?
Cash, bank balances, gold, silver, business and trade goods at their current value, and loans you have given that you expect back. Personal items such as your home, car and furniture are not counted.
Can I deduct my debts?
Yes. Debts and payments that are due within the year are deducted from your zakatable assets before the 2.5% is calculated. Long-term debts are treated differently by different scholars — count only the portion due this year here.
When does zakat become due?
Zakat is due once your wealth has stayed at or above the nisab for a full lunar year (called the hawl). Many people choose to pay during Ramadan, but it can be paid at any point once your lunar year completes.
Why use this tool?
Working out zakat by hand means converting tolas, checking today's gold and silver rates, applying the nisab and then taking 2.5% — with room for arithmetic slips at every step. This calculator does the whole chain transparently, showing your assets, liabilities, net wealth and the nisab it used, so you can check every number.
